A 4-stage shift light gives racers the advantage of selecting the anticipated rpm rise for each individual gear. A short shift protection activates the next shift point if the driver happens to come up a little short. The devices are also capable of recording 20 seconds of burnout time, which is initiated by an adjustable rpm threshold. The Ultimate II tachometers record at the high rate of 100 samples per second.
For the serious racer, an appropriate sample rate increases the reliability of recorded data, and puts it to better use when comparing runs.
